Around Two - Chapter 7
[With Editorial Commentary Below]
I opened the window from outside with my palms. I ducked my head in, having to lift the dusty blinds, and forced my way into the dark bedroom. I still heard a light snore.
A smile crept up my lips as I tiptoed over the clothes on the floor. Made it to the bed and lifted a corner of the sheet. He shivered and pulled on it to keep warm. I climbed in under the sheet and wrapped him in my arms.
He said nothing as he turned to face me, eyes closed. He could no longer contain his smile. I pressed my forehead to his and he finally opened his olive-colored eyes.
“Starting to think you wouldn’t show.”
I smiled. “How could I possibly resist?”
“You can’t,” he laughed, clutching my waist.
“Why not?”
His fingers nestled at my hips. “You’re as afraid of losing me as I am you. I know you still haven’t opened your letter.”
I frowned at his blunt honesty. “You never cease to bewilder me.”
His eyebrows raised in question.
“Always reading me like a book,” I chuckled into his ear. “My telepath.”
“Well,” he caressed my cheek, “you are a magnificent read.” Then he whispered in a warm breath, “Nobel-worthy.”
He pulled me closer into his kiss and stroked my hair. I looked at his closed eyes and sighed. “I like sleeping with you.”
His eyes shot open. “Do you know something I don’t?”
I shrugged.
“What do you do in here while I innocently sleep?”
I couldn’t help but smile. “Not as much as I want to do.”
He looked deep in my eyes. “What if I applied?”
“What?”
“At your school. What if we could live together?”
I smirked. “Somehow I don’t think they’d let us room together.”
“Off-campus, goofy.”
“Sean...” I sighed. “You’ve been accepted already. And you’re halfway packed. I’m not going to ask you to give that up.”
“You don’t have to ask; just give me an answer. You never have to ask me to stay.”
I shook my head, forcing a smile. “Let me think about it before I step on your dreams just for a bit of midnight spooning. Now go to sleep.”
“Don’t think about it too long,” he said as he turned away, pulling my arm around him.
